CollegeCompass is an independent comparison tool for U.S. colleges and universities. All statistics on this site come from the College Scorecard, published by the U.S. Department of Education from federal administrative records (IPEDS, Title IV aid, and IRS tax records matched under agreement). The data is public domain. Our own work is limited to: cleaning sentinel values, joining institution, program and outcome tables, computing simple derived comparisons, translating interface text, and writing the guides. We do not alter, estimate or interpolate any published figure. Rankings use only objective federal statistics with transparent rules stated on each list — they are not editorial 'best college' rankings. Earnings and debt statistics describe federal-aid populations at each institution and cannot predict any individual's outcome. Nothing on this site is educational, admissions or financial advice. Data refreshed annually from the official November release.
